Bilal G. Morris, graduated from Monmouth University with a B.A. in Communications and minor in Journalism. While in college, Bilal played Division 1 college football for both Lehigh University and Monmouth University. Upon graduating, he started his professional career as a freelance writer for The Source Magazine and other online publications such as Rap-up.com and Sister2sister.com.
After three years of traveling around New York City, and interviewing some of biggest names in entertainment, Bilal decided to broaden his journalistic scope. In 2010, he took on his first managerial role as the Online Editor for Interactive One's local radio division in Richmond, VA. At Interactive One Richmond, he managed three online publications associated with Radio One and their Richmond radio properties (iPowerRichmond.com, KissRichmond.com, and PraiseRichmond). During this time, he was recognized by Interactive One for the most digital growth among any Online Editor in the company. While in Richmond, Bilal also began his public speaking career, speaking at annual forums about social media and small business.
Following his highly successful tenure at Radio One Richmond, Bilal moved to the City of Brotherly Love in 2011; where he managed the digital team at Radio One Philadelphia (boomphilly.com (WPHI), praisephilly.com(WPZZ), oldschool103.com (WRNB)).
Bilal played a pivotal role in the launch of OldSchool100.3fm, a new RNB station in the Greater Philadelphia area. He also assisted with the launch of Boom107.9fm, an old school Hip-Hop station in Philadelphia. While Radio One Philadelphia, his responsibilities included but weren’t limited to managing a full staff of writers, photographers, and other creatives who contribute to all three websites.
After much success in Philadelphia, Bilal was promoted to Regional Online Editor in 2015 and now overseas the digital departments in Washington DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia, three major markets for Interactive One. He supervises the Online Editors in each market, as well as manages a social media community of over 500,000 followers.
In 2013, Bilal published The Notebook Of Destiny. This composition notebook is intended as a social experiment to test the theory of mastering the subconscious mind, through persistent desire, unwavering faith, specific emotions, and daily brain stimulation. The ideas in this notebook are from a collection of readings dedicated on training the mind for success.
In the same year, he also began his Social Media Etiquette Tour. This lecture examines effective social media skills for individuals AND professionals, seeking to build knowledge in social media marketing, etiquette, optimization, as well as trends, tips and tools for social media management. The tour has already been presented in person, or virtually through Skype for Temple University’s Black Public Relations Society and Black Student Union, Hampton University’s Greer Dawson Wilson Student Leadership Program, Delaware State University’s Mass Communications Dept., and University Of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Intro To Editing Class and Advanced Editing Class.
He continues to travel the country doing lectures, and consulting on social media etiquette.
